OUR VOICES: Black, Latinx, and Caribbean Student Day

Wednesday, March 30, 2022, 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

Queens College will host an inaugural event to celebrate the ongoing histories and stories of the Black, Latinx, and Caribbean communities in the United States. The day features two panels of university and community leaders addressing the impact of the pandemic in Queens’s communities of color. Students will also take center stage as the winners of the student contests in the essay, poetry, visual arts, and media competitions share their work inspired by their experiences enduring the COVID 19 pandemic. This celebration ends with a live concert by Dominican musician Yasser Tejeda & Palotré. Arepas will be served before the performance, free of charge, in the atrium of the Aaron Copland School of Music. All events will take place at LeFrak Concert Hall from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

This event is free for the Queens College community.

Sponsored by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
