Speak, Sweet Memory tells the true story of Mr. Tian,  an opera singer who grew up in a Beijing military compound, visiting Mr. Wang, a TV producer who grew up in a military village in Taiwan. A pop song The Past Can Only Be Savored in Memory takes them back to their childhood memories. These two men found out that they both enjoyed secretly listening to the radio programs and music shows transmitted in shortwave frequencies from the other side of the Taiwan Strait when they were young. While chatting with each other, Mr. Wang had a sudden whim to adapt their stories into a music theater work. They perform and sing. The two men also found out that they have similar life stories. They both have an elder brother who is not that successful. However, both have strong feelings of brotherhood that is alienated yet inseparable.
