The Queens College Orchestra welcomes the distinguished Alumnus, George Rothman as a guest conductor for the concerts. Mr. Rothman received his Masters degree at Queens College, where he also served as Associate Lecturer and Conductor for two years. In 1979, Mr. Rothman was awarded a scholarship to study conducting at Tanglewood, where he worked with Leonard Bernstein and Seiji Ozawa, and currently is the music director for the Riverside Symphony.

The Queens College Orchestra is the voice of the Aaron Copland School of Music. Under the direction of Maestro Maurice Peress it is first and foremost a training orchestra that explores the core repertoire from Bach to Takemitsu. The QCO accompanies concertos featuring our students, and plays for operas and oratorios. It reads student orchestrations and compositions, and helps train our Masters Conducting students.
