Grammy-award Winner Donnie McClurkin will perform exclusive Concert!

Grammy-award winner Donnie McClurkin will perform an exclusive concert at the Colden Auditorium at Queens College on Saturday, February 23rd at 8:00 pm.

Donnie McClurkin is known worldwide as the tall raspy tenor with powerful and rich vocals.  The man behind platinum selling albums such as “Stand” and “We Fall Down” and a compelling songwriter, his knack for nailing songs that others can identify with and serving it up with a strong vocal delivery has helped McClurkin to carve out a spot in the hearts of millions.

Host of his own nationally syndicated radio program, McClurkin received a GMWA Crystal Mic Award for Best Syndicated Radio Show in 2010 and has been featured on the pages of USA Today, The New York Times, Essence Magazine, Ebony & Jet magazines, Billboard, Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. He was also recently brought on board as a judge for BET’s successful gospel music competition show, “Sunday’s Best.”

In 2007 McClurkin was honored at both the 15th Annual Trumpet Awards and the NARAS Recording Academy – NY Chapter.   Alongside McClurkin’s trophies sits several Grammy, Dove, BET, Soul Train and NAACP Image Awards, statuettes and plaques.  In 2010, McClurkin walked away with his third Grammy Award for Best Gospel Performance for the single, “Wait on the Lord” featuring Karen Clark Sheard from the CD, We Are One: Live in Detroit.   The same year he added another trophy to the group after receiving the BMI Trailblazer’s Award sharing the spotlight with his mentor and gospel music icon, Andrae Crouch.

On the film and television side McClurkin penned songs for soundtracks such as, “Lady Killer’s” (New Line), “The Prince of Egypt” (DreamWorks) and “The Goofy Movie” (Disney).  From the concert stage to the big and small screen, fans have also seen the singer shine in cameo appearances show such as the “The Parkers”, “Girlfriends”, “Meet The Browns” (Tyler Perry Paramount Pictures, “The Fighting Temptations” starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Beyonce Knowles and a myriad of Award Shows. However, it was in Sony Screen Gems/ Rainforest Films “The Gospel,” starring Boris Kodjoe and Idris Elba, that McClurkin made his debut in a character role.
