The Playboy of the Western World tells
the story of Christy Mahon, a young man
who claims to have killed his father and subsequently
becomes the hero of
a small town in County Mayo. That is, until his father
comes looking for
him. This cornerstone of Irish drama caused civil disturbances
in the
streets of Ireland when it first opened in 1907.
Special Opening Night Q & A with
actor Stephen Rea-Academy Award-nominee for The Crying
Game follows the performance on October 16.
