Featuring multi-instrumentalist Steven Salcedo’s Latin-Soul Group, a high energy collective that includes multiple horns, percussionists, and vocalists, this engaging performance for students will explore the history of how Afro Latin music was born out of the New York City melting pot of the 1950s and 1960s, leading to the birth of funk and hip-hop through the lens of Latin music icons such as Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, and more.
Recommended grades: 2-8
Please be aware that for the upcoming 2023-24 school year, Colden Auditorium will be closed for renovations. Therefore, our performances will take place in our smaller venues – the 489-seat LeFrak Concert Hall and the 450-seat Goldstein Theatre. Due to these smaller capacities, space will be very limited. To ensure your attendance, we strongly recommend making your reservations promptly. Submission of the reservation is not confirmation. Trips will only be confirmed when payment is received in full.
The Revelations program is exclusively offered for students in grades PreK-12 so we unfortunately cannot accommodate any other groups or general public.
We are a NYC Department of Education approved Vendor. Please use vendor name QUEENS COLLEGE and vendor number COL022000 when placing a Purchase Order with the DOE.
