QC Art Center: “GOOD GAME” Exhibition

November 11, 2021 - November 18, 2021

The Queens Art Center is proud to present Good Game, a solo exhibition of works by Fay Sanders. Sanders’ current series focuses on women in sports. By reappropriating Christian religious imagery, motifs from the Soviet avant garde, and footage from the Olympics, Sanders conjures a world of all-women athletics, one both recognizable and inaccessible, full of inside jokes and insularity. In these pieces, the athletes radiate both jocularity and dedication. Sanders’ paintings indicate a playful and intense relationship with the medium.

Fay Sanders is an artist based in Queens, NY. She received her BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University and her MFA from Brooklyn College. She has shown with 601 ArtSpace, Flux Factory, and Field Projects in New York City and La Loma Projects in Los Angeles. She has an upcoming solo exhibition at Smith College in March 2022. Sanders has been an artist in residence at Vermont Studio Center, MASS MoCA, and Kimmel Harding Center for the Arts, and is a recipient of the 2021 Queens Arts Fund grant and the 2021 City Artist Corps grant. You can follow her on Instagram @faysanders_.

This show was made possible with help from the Queens Council on the Arts.
