Bring your students and celebrate Día de Muertos, Day of the Dead at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts! Performed by Mexico Beyond Mariachi, this bilingual, family friendly, interactive multimedia performance interweaves traditional Mexican music and dance with stories, myths, and legends.

Our journey begins over 600 years ago in the land of the Meshica, with the sound of the drums, calling our ancestors. We pay homage and celebrate those who have crossed over to the great beyond before us—parents, grandparents, great-great grandparents—those who make us who we are today. Explore the haunting melodies of La Llorona and La Bruja from the states of Oaxaca and Veracruz. Dance with the “Viejitos”, a playful and traditional dance from the state of Michoacan that represents the changing of the seasons. Listen to the story of how Doña Panchita cheated Death, and so much more. This vibrant show interweaves traditional Mexican music and dance with the stories, myths, and legends of Day of the Dead.

Founded in 2005 in New York City, Mexico Beyond Mariachi is a multi-cultural ensemble of professional musicians, actors, dancers, and teaching artists whose love of Mexican traditions and way of life shines bright in every performance. www.mexicobeyondmariachi.com.
