“Darlene Love’s thunderbolt voice is as embedded in the history of rock and roll as Eric Clapton’s guitar or Bob Dylan’s lyrics.”
The New York Times

Over the years, she has captivated audiences around the world with her radiant stage presence and powerful performances. A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Love has earned both Oscar and Grammy Awards, scored numerous Billboard hits, and garnered praise from critics and fans alike. Kupferberg Center for the Arts proudly welcomes back one of music’s most beloved icons—Darlene Love—for an evening of Love Songs, a heartfelt celebration of her extraordinary voice, storied career, and undeniable impact on American music.

Hailed by Rolling Stone as “one of the greatest singers of all time,” Darlene Love has spent decades captivating audiences with her powerful vocals, radiant stage presence, and unwavering artistry. From her early days as a defining voice of the girl group era to her legendary solo career, Love’s music continues to inspire generations. Her chart-topping hits include He’s a Rebel, The Boy I’m Gonna Marry, Wait ’Til My Bobby Gets Home, He’s Sure the Boy I Love, and the timeless holiday anthem Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)—a song she performed annually with Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra on The Late Show with David Letterman for nearly 30 years.

Her contributions to music and culture have earned her the highest honors in the industry. In 2011, Darlene Love was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by none other than Bette Midler, a longtime admirer. The induction celebration featured unforgettable performances of He’s a Rebel with Midler and He’s a Fine, Fine Boy with Bruce Springsteen—both testaments to her enduring influence and the admiration she commands from fellow artists.

Her story reached new audiences through the acclaimed documentary Twenty Feet from Stardom, which not only won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature but also earned a Grammy for its soundtrack. Love’s powerful, sung acceptance speech at the Oscars brought the audience to its feet in a standing ovation, led by actor Bill Murray—a poignant highlight in a career filled with memorable moments.

Beyond the accolades, Darlene Love remains a force on stage, continuing to tour, record, and spread joy through her music. Her holiday concerts are a cherished tradition, and her soulful performances resonate with audiences young and old. With over 290,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and more than 5 million views on YouTube, Love’s legacy continues to grow and thrive in the digital age.

As Paul Shaffer so aptly put it: “Darlene Love is Rock ’n’ Roll!” Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience a true living legend live in concert.
