Schooltime Performances

For more than thirty years, our schooltime performance series has showcased world-renowned music, dance, and theatre performances for students in grades PreK-12. This acclaimed arts exposure program encourages young students to explore and develop their innate creative potential and make connections between live performances and classroom studies. Each field trip program includes free Study Guides, which are linked to school curriculum and New York City and State Learning Standards.

All schooltime performance tickets are $10.00 in advance, and accompanying teachers, nurses, and paraprofessionals are FREE. Check our event schedule below and submit your reservations via online form or by calling our Box Office at (718) 793-8080 or emailing boxoffice@kupferbergcenter.org. 

Title 1 tickets are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Each eligible teacher may reserve only one Title 1 trip (up to 35 students) during the 2024-25 school year. Please call or email us for more information.

As of September 24, Title 1 FREE tickets are no longer available for the following performances: Cirque Kalabanté: Afrique en Cirque, Keith Michael’s The Nutcracker, Lunar New Year Celebration (all six shows), and Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live.

Cirque Kalabanté: Afrique en Cirque

Montréal-based troupe Cirque Kalabanté combines breathtaking acrobatics with live music, delivering performances that are described as ‘high-flying,’ ‘jaw-dropping,’ and ‘mind-blowing.’ Afrique En Cirque symbolizes the strength, agility, and joy of life in African culture. Be transported into a realm that combines traditional African arts with North American modern circus performance. Mesmerizing, melodious, and magical, this high-energy production is sure to keep the whole audience on the edge of their seats!

Keith Michael’s The Nutcracker

Lunar New Year Celebration

Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live

Get ready for the ultimate playdate – 65 million years in the making – as Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live guides your students on a breathtaking tour that begins in pre-historic Australia. Audience members will observe, meet, and interact with an eye-popping collection of amazingly life-like dinosaurs and giant puppets. This thrilling performance is brought to life by skilled puppeteers and paleontologists, making the dinosaurs so realistic you might want to run and hide— but don’t!

Doktor Kaboom!

Doktor Kaboom is an over-the-top German physicist with a passion for science that knows no bounds. Sporting chrome goggles, an orange lab coat, motorcycle boots, and wicked cool hair, Doktor Kaboom travels the world taking audiences on an educational tour of the modern scientific method, using humor and comedy, while demonstrating spectacular applications of the physical sciences. Nothing says science like KABOOM!

Cubop to Hip-Hop!

Featuring multi-instrumentalist Steven Salcedo’s Latin-Soul Group, a high energy collective that includes multiple horns, percussionists, and vocalists, this engaging performance for students will explore the history of how Afro Latin music was born out of the New York City melting pot of the 1950s and 1960s, leading to the birth of funk and hip-hop through the lens of Latin music icons such as Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, and more.

A Year with Frog & Toad

A hit on Broadway, A Year With Frog And Toad was nominated for 3 TONY Awards – including Best Musical. Based on Arnold Lobel’s beloved children’s books and featuring a jazzy, upbeat score by Robert and Willie Reale that bubbles with melody and wit, this whimsical musical follows two great friends — the cheerful, popular Frog and the curmudgeonly Toad — through four, fun-filled seasons as they celebrate and rejoice in their differences that make them unique and special.

Step Afrika!

Experience the lively rhythms of Step Afrika! and its legendary stepping. World-renowned for its percussive dances and blend of African sounds, Step Afrika! has performed in more than 60 countries since its founding in 1994. With 18 full-time artists, the troupe uses the stage as a means of expression, combining songs, stories, and humor in its rhythmic dances. Bring your whole family and come ready to clap, stomp, cheer, and participate in call and response with the artists; it’s a thunderously complex, polyrhythmic symphony that will bring you to your feet.

Cinco De Mayo Celebration

TAIKOZA

Experience the thunderous rhythms of the ancestral Japanese Taiko drums and the magical sounds of the bamboo flutes. Hear the 150-pound Taiko drums give thunderous voice to traditional and new compositions. Roughly translated, Taiko means big drums—and that’s exactly what Taikoza brings:  big drums, powerful rhythms, and electrifying and room-thumping energy!

Recommended grades: K-12

The schooltime performance series is exclusively offered for students in grades PreK-12 so we unfortunately cannot accommodate any other groups or general public.
