Celebrate the Lunar New Year at KCA!

Get ready to ring in the Year of the Dragon with an unforgettable celebration at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College. This joyous Lunar New Year event promises to be a cultural extravaganza filled with vibrant performances, traditional festivities, and immersive experiences for the whole family.

The 2024 event will take place on Saturday, January 27, and Sunday, January 28, with family-friendly performances by Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company at 3pm each day. The family performances will feature majestic dragons, dancing lions, Mongolian dance, acrobats, and much more. Additionally, on Saturday, January 27, at 7pm, the company will present an evening program combining modern and traditional dances.

Founded by the late Taiwanese-American choreographer Nai-Ni Chen, the cross-cultural Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company blends Chinese cultural elegance with New York’s modern dance spirit. Their ground-breaking works explore ancient legends reflecting current issues and contemporary dances influenced by Chen’s multicultural experiences in New York. In this engaging 90-minute program, Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company will present a captivating program that blends modern and traditional dances. Be prepared to be enthralled by their mesmerizing choreography, combining contemporary and traditional elements in a breathtaking display of talent and culture. Running time: 90 minutes
